Togashi-san is one of the great living masters of creative improvised music. The sounds and colors that he draws out of the fantastic and very personal combinations of drums, percussion, gongs, cymbals, bells, etc, seem not to come from them, but rather from the wind, the sea, and from inner and outer space.
But to me, what makes him truly great, is his intuitive and telepathic ability to surround and support each musical phrase with the perfect answer! This makes the duo music come alive and allows it to unfold magically right in front of you!
I believe that this live recording captures the essence of those moments of the inspiration between artists of common heart. - Richie Beirach
