Originally made for the Japanese Trio label and released domestically by Black Hawk, this was at least the sixth duet album that pianist Roland Hanna made with bassist George Mraz. Hanna takes seven classical melodies (including "Humoresque,""Reverie,""Swan Lake" and "Yours Is My Heart Alone") and transforms them into swinging and lyrical jazz, respecting the melodies but also coming up with fresh variations. Fine music. - Scott Yanow
