Jean-Michel Pilc has often been criticized for falling into the technical demonstration with a certain coldness and a lack of musicality. None of that here!
The proposed themes are relatively short but all very well inspired. The climates, colors and shapes presented by this trio are very interesting.
The trio is very homogeneous and the musicians interact perfectly. Moutin and Hoenig supporting Pilc wonderfully well.
Half of the compositions are signed Pilc, Moutin and Hoenig and are free improvisations. But there are also some compositions by famous Jazzmen (Giant Steps by Coltrane, Nardis by Davis, Think of One by Monk...) - Thierry
